Construction of the Basseterre Desalination Plant Progresses as the Fusing of Intake Lines Begins

Basseterre, St. Kitts (MoPIEUDT NEWS) – On Monday, April 7, 2025, MoPIEUDT News returned to the Basseterre Desalination Plant to check in with the Site Supervisor Ben Moise concerning the progress on the pipeline.

Ben worked alongside a handful of his team, surrounded by an array of heavy metal pipes near an operating fusion machine. He explained the crew’s activity.

Basseterre Desalination Plant Site Supervisor Ben Moise Comments on Progress at the Site

On Wednesday, April 9, Assistant Water Engineer at the St. Kitts Water Services Department (WSD), Chantal Hanley, spoke briefly about the connectivity between the desalination plant and the storage tank at Morne Peak during her appearance on the WSD’s bi-monthly radio show, The Water Line.

“Currently, we are making good progress. [We] have reached quite far, almost to the top by the reservoir. Right now, [we] are at Bird Rock putting in pipeline.”

The construction of the desalination plant is scheduled for July 2025.
