Basseterre, St. Kitts (MoPIEUDT NEWS) – The Roads and Drains Division (R&D) of the Public Works Department (PWD) continues its thrust to maintain and improve the island’s roads, but its plans to address a specific pothole in the center of Basseterre have been impacted by sporadic showers.
The team identified the pothole along Upper College Street in the vicinity of the Bus Stop. Work on it has not begun, however, because the team is waiting for favourable weather conditions to return.
This type of repair requires two days of uninterrupted sunshine to allow the materials to cure properly and ensure a lasting result. Accordingly, sporadic rainfall does not satisfy the team’s conditions to proceed because the area continues to channel runoff from rain in the hills, even on days without any rainfall at the site.

The team continues to monitor the weather closely and remains prepared to carry out the repair work at the earliest appropriate opportunity.
