Basseterre, Saint Kitts (Public Infrastructure News) – Residents and business owners in Basseterre and the surrounding areas may experience temporary water service interruptions on Thursday, October 15, as teams from the Saint Kitts Water Services Department (WSD) conduct maintenance on two lines at the Basseterre Desalination Plant.
On Thursday morning, Plant Supervisor Francis Zelaya stated that the plant is estimated to be offline for 8 hours while repairs are ongoing.
Persons in zones supplied by the tank might not immediately notice any changes in water flow because the contents of the 500 000-gallon water tank at the BDP will be continuously sent to the wider distribution network. The chance of service interruptions later in the day remains moderately high, however, with WSD officials urging consumers to conserve water as much as possible.
The WSD sincerely apologizes for any inconvenience caused and appreciates the patience and understanding of all affected customers.
Public Infrastructure News will provide updates on the status of repairs and what it means for water service in Basseterre as the situation develops.
