PWD Daily Tracker – September 1, 2024

Date:

Basseterre, St. Kitts – After approximately two months of vacation for primary and secondary school students, a new academic year is ready to begin. Foot traffic in school zones will see a marked increase at peak times for vehicular traffic, making it essential for pedestrians and drivers to exercise due care when traversing these areas.

To facilitate road safety, the Public Works Department (PWD) continues to replace speed bumps in school zones around the island. On Sunday, September 1, 2024, the crew installed new speed bumps on George Street, Basseterre, near the main entrance of the Immaculate Conception Catholic School. The speed bumps demarcate an area with a pedestrian crossing in line with the school’s front gate and operate to enforce lower speed limits for vehicles passing through the area.

Work on speed bumps began a few weeks ago when the crew replaced those at the Washington Archibald High School, the Beach Allen Primary School, and Dr. William Connor Primary School.

As the crew continues its work in school zones around the island, we will provide additional information as it becomes available.
