Video Series on Tendering Process Aims at Improving Transparency

Date:

Basseterre, St. Kitts—In a move to accelerate the flow of information to the public and improve the overall transparency of operations at the Ministry of Public Infrastructure et al., the Public Works Department (PWD) has revealed plans to produce a short video series on the bidding process for projects it oversees.

Director of Public Works George Gilbert outlined his plans for the project on Monday, July 2, 2024, stating that the series will acutely focus on everything from the PWD’s procedures for notifying and inviting the general public to bid on projects to the PWD’s process for submitting and evaluating those bids.

Mr. Gilbert explained that the project’s benefits lie in its ability to document abstract departmental procedures and transform them into minute data that contractors and other stakeholders can easily consume to inform their level of preparation for future bids.

In recent months, the PWD has increased the level of activity and engagement on its Facebook page. The Ministry’s decision to shoot the video for its Facebook audience is deliberate and strategic, in line with its goal to improve engagement on social media.

Filming will begin on Tuesday, July 16, 2024, and the initial episode should be released later in 2024.

The Ministry of Public Infrastructure commends the leadership of the Public Works Department for facilitating this important initiative, which will increase the transparency of its operations.
