Basseterre, St. Kitts (MoPIEUDT NEWS) – On Wednesday, June 25, 2025, Kurt Carty (Inspector of Works) and Shawn Greenaway (Inspector of Quality) at the St. Kitts Water Services Department (WSD) discussed the department’s field operations and the technology and innovation it uses to monitor and improve water quality on the department’s bimonthly radio show, the Water Line – a show devised to improve public engagement concerning the department’s activities and engender a greater appreciation of its work to supply safe and potable water for the people of St. Kitts.
While commenting on field operations, the men addressed common issues and infrastructure failures, highlighted factors affecting water quality, and explained why some areas of the island might require more frequent attention by their divisions than others.
As the conversation shifted to the department’s use of technology, Greenaway explained how the anticipated use of a supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) system would facilitate his monitoring and evaluation.
