Basseterre, St. Kitts (MoPIEUDT NEWS) – Following months of construction, work on the perimeter of the water storage facility at Olivees is nearing completion as the Water Services Department (WSD) prepares to check the box on another completed task.
The project began in February 2025, concretizing the WSD’s plans to implement added security to the site to safeguard the water supply for residents of St. Kitts.
On Wednesday, September 24, 2025, in an interview on the WSD’s Water Line program, WSD Assistant Water Engineer Chantal Hanley assured the public that the measure would reduce the already negligible risks of trespassing and water supply contamination at the site.

Hanley informed:
“The project is about 85% completed. […] We are currently waiting on the completion of the gates, […] additional fencing, and of course, to install the barb wire.”

Hanley further shared that the WSD plans to secure similar locations around the island to maintain the integrity of the storage facilities and the quality of the water they supply.
