Basseterre, Saint Kitts (Public Infrastructure News) – Citizens of Saint Kitts and Nevis will soon be exposed to an array of activities across both islands to commemorate the 2026 observance of CARICOM Energy Month in November.
The local observance of the month-long regional event is currently being spearheaded by the Energy Unit within the Ministry of Public Infrastructure and is characterized by an increasingly systematic partnership involving the Unit’s Director, Dr. Bertill Browne; Energy Officer Denasio Frank; and the wider planning committee, which includes staff from the Ministry of Public Infrastructure, the St. Kitts Electricity Company (SKELEC Ltd), and the Nevis Electricity Company (NEVLEC).
Signature events, such as the Energy Minister’s annual address, will return alongside new events that energy officials hope will further showcase the projects and initiatives being implemented to accelerate the renewable energy transition.
Both Dr. Browne and Mr. Frank have committed to the usual series of media appearances to promote the month of activities, with programme dates and times still to be determined.
The event is also expected to promote the new SOLARISE and DRIVE initiatives as part of broader efforts to promote the transition to renewable energy under the government’s Sustainable Island State Agenda. Frank told Public Infrastructure News that the Energy Unit is also holding discussions with colleagues in Nevis for a related event that the planning committee hopes will also promote greater interest in DRIVE.
Talks have also been initiated for a workshop that could give students a closer look at the Green Energy Transition (GET) project, which was launched on April 2, 2026.
Officials say the activities are designed to give citizens a clear view of the energy landscape, deepen their understanding of the renewable energy transition now underway, and promote greater awareness of the roles they can play in making sustainability not just a dream, but a reality.
The regional observance of CARICOM Energy Month will be held under the theme, Leveraging Energy Diversity Across the Caribbean.
