Ministry of Public Infrastructure et al. Commemorates World Environment Day

Basseterre, St. Kitts – On Wednesday, June 5, 2024, the Ministry of Public Infrastructure, Energy, Utilities and Domestic Transport participated in a “Wear Green” campaign organized by the Department of Environment (DoE) to demonstrate support for environmental protection in commemoration of World Environment Day.

In response to the official letter from the DoE soliciting participation from the Ministry of Public Infrastructure et al., in the “Wear Green” campaign, the Ministry documented its participation with photographs of staff from its Administration and Water Services Departments at its headquarters in Needsmust.

Addressing the significance of the activity, Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Public Infrastructure et al., Mr. Darryll Lloyd stated:

Today we wear green to bring attention to environmental issues that affect people all around the world. The Ministry of Public Infrastructure, Energy and Utilities and Domestic Transport is pleased to support the initiative of the Department of Environment as it continues to sensitize and inform us about such issues, not only of a global nature, but those that are real to us because we see and feel their collective impact on our lives and our livelihoods. World Environment Day is an opportunity to inspire others to reflect on the importance of the environment. Indeed, we are grateful to play a part in that.

This year, World Environment Day is being celebrated this year under the theme, “Accelerating Land Restoration, Drought Resilience and Desertification.”
