WSD Shares Customer Service Protocol and Initiatives on June 12th Edition of The Water Line

Date:

Basseterre, St. Kitts – On June 12, 2024, Systems Administrator, Javed Mills, and Assistant Customer Service Manager, Ginika Williams, of the St. Kitts Water Services Department (WSD) appeared on the WSD’s biweekly radio show, The Water Line, to discuss important initiatives to improve and maintain customer engagement.

Mr. Mills informed that one new initiative is the department’s re-introduction of an online payment system that allows WSD customers to pay their monthly bills directly from the water.gov.kn website. Prior to the re-introduction, customers could only pay their bills at select financial institutions, the Post Office and the WSD office in Needsmust.

Mr. Mills also indicated that the move accompanies a related initiative to upgrade the online forms on the department’s website to facilitate data capture through automatic submission. Previously, all forms were in pdf type which require customers to fill in the information and then email the form to the department. The new forms reduce the number of steps customers must take between filling in and submitting information by removing the requirements for downloading and uploading through customers’ personal email accounts. Mr. Mills stated that until the upgrade is complete, however, some customers would still be required to submit forms through their email accounts depending on the type of form they wish to complete.

Ms. Williams spoke about common customer queries related to high bills and the steps customers should take before the WSD determines that a bill adjustment is appropriate. She also discussed factors affecting connection rates and the WSD’s policy on assigning liability for outstanding bills in landlord and tenant relationships and in cases where an occupier assumes control of a property with an outstanding bill.

The next edition of the Water Line is scheduled for June 26, 2024.
