Basseterre, St. Kitts (MoPIEUDT NEWS) – Minister of Public Infrastructure, Energy, Utilities, and Domestic Transport, Hon. Konris Maynard, revealed that plans are progressing for the exploration of 17 newly identified potential drill sites, following a hydrogeological survey using airborne technology.
Speaking in Parliament during the 2026 Budget Debate, Minister Maynard said:
“We have successfully completed a drone-based semi-airborne hydrogeological survey that has identified 17 new potential well sites.”

Nine of the seventeen sites have been prioritized for drilling in various locations around the island.
| Location | Number of Wells | Priority for Drilling (Exploration) |
| Saddlers | 2 | 1 |
| Sandy Point | 3 | 1 |
| Newton Ground | 1 | 1 |
| St. Pauls | 1 | 1 |
| Parsons/Dieppe Bay | 1 | 1 |
| Tabernacle | 2 | 1 |

Referring to the proposed budget allocation for related activities, Minister Maynard said:
“Eight million dollars have been identified for new well drilling in order to close the demand supply gap in the northwestern side of the island and [bring] the remaining 30% of households to 24 hour service.”
This development follows the WSD’s two-pronged approach to water management, consisting of finding and exploiting new groundwater sources and investing in desalination.
