Semi-airborne Drone Survey Begins This Week

Date:

PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT

Basseterre, St. Kitts (MoPIEUDT NEWS) – The Water Services Department wishes to inform the general public that, starting Monday, May 19, 2025,semi-airborne drone survey will be conducted across various communities, moving in a counter-clockwise direction around the island.

This survey is part of our ongoing efforts to improve the nation’s water security by locating new groundwater sources over the next few weeks.

Please be advised that the survey involves the installation of electrodes (metal rods) in the ground, which will carry electrical current to generate geophysical data. Safety markers and warning tape will be placed near these areas. The public is kindly asked to avoid tampering with the equipment or entering marked zones, as high-voltage current will be in use.

Additionally, the survey utilizes a drone carrying geophysical equipment on a rack beneath it at low altitudes. Residents may observe this activity and should not be alarmed.

We thank you for your understanding and cooperation as we carry out this vital national project. Updates on specific survey locations will be provided to ensure public awareness.

Stay safe and stay informed.
