Basseterre, St. Kitts (MoPIEUDT NEWS) – On Thursday, June 26, 2025, residents of Bird Rock Commercial Development and Harbour View returned to their neighbourhoods to find that multiple potholes that made their rush hour commute feel more like a game of Minesweeper were history because of the hardworking team of the Roads and Drains Division of the Public Works Department (PWD).
Signs of improvement were initially noticeable along Celia Christopher Street. There, a shallow but menacing pothole that antagonized even the most skilled drivers had begun to take shape in the center of the road, with some drivers compromising road safety by crossing over into the adjacent lane to avoid it. Now, fresh asphalt covers any sign of its existence, improving the aesthetics, utility and safety of the road.
With Thursday’s tasks completed, the team headed to the heart of the Basseterre on Friday to tackle the potholes on Church Street.

As the PWD continues its work to maintain and improve the island’s infrastructure, the PWD encourages the public to keep track of its teams’ activities by visiting its Facebook page and browsing mopieudt.gov.kn/the-public-works-department for more information from the department.
