Basseterre St. Kitts (MoPIEUDT NEWS) – The Roads and Drains Division (R&D) of the Public Works Department (PWD) continues to improve the roads and drains throughout the island. On Friday, July 11, 2025, Roads Supervisor Raimon Browne gave the following updates on the R&D’s activities for July 9 – 11.
Lime Kiln Drain Repairs
Earlier in the week, one of two concrete crews of the R&D team deployed to Lime Kiln to perform drain repairs. The crew completed the casting on July 9 and 10. It will conduct cleanup activities on Friday, July 11.
Half Moon
The second concrete crew deployed to Half Moon to continue its repairs to the undermined roadway. It completed the casting on Wednesday, July 9.
Bird Rock Road
On Thursday, July 10, 2025, the second concrete crew deployed to Bird Rock Road to reinstate the roadway that the Water Services Department had removed to lay pipes to connect the Basseterre desalination plant to the storage tank at Morne Peak.
The R&D crew will return to the site on Friday, July 11, for casting.
Bourkes Road, Sandy Point
The asphalt crew returned to Bourkes Road, Sandy Point, on Wednesday, July 9, to clean the edge of the road, as a precursor to overlaying the asphalt for paving on July 10 and 11.
