Basseterre, St. Kitts (MoPIEUDT NEWS) – In January 2024, behind closed doors and in the inner sanctum of the Ministry of Public Infrastructure, Energy & Utilities, and Domestic Transport, Minister Konris Maynard convened a meeting with a small group of people comprising the ministry’s communications team. Its purpose – to devise a plan to engage the public on matters of ministerial significance, standardize messaging and maximize its impact.

A Statement of Vision
The minister spoke about his vision for improved communication between the ministry and the people it serves, and he emphasized the need for frequent, consistent, and accurate engagements with the press. He also expressed his desire to realize more direct engagements with the general public via multiple social media platforms, some of which the ministry had already been using.
Everyone in the room understood the assignment, but none could fully fathom how the journey from understanding to implementation would catapult the ministry’s communication to new heights.
An Unexpected Surprise
It was the Hon. Konris Maynard who planted the seed that would blossom into one of the most effective collaborations between the Ministry of National Security via the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force, and the Ministry of Public Infrastructure, Energy, Utilities, and Domestic Transport.
Speaking to the persons seated around his oval table on that January afternoon, Minister Maynard named a police officer whose personality, he believed, would be instrumental in strengthening the water conservation efforts of the St. Kitts Water Services Department. Surprised and elated, the group endorsed the idea fully.
The Refinement of an Idea
In the months that followed, the idea was drafted and refined, ultimately gaining further support from the group, the Police Commissioner, and the leadership and staff of the Water Services Department.
The Convergence of Personalities
As the idea evolved, it ballooned into a fantastic collaboration with social media influencer, Modelcop Shaq, and influencer and television personality, Pinocchio, rounding out the popular trio. Those lucky enough to witness the collaboration as it shaped the idea that would leap off the pages and onto the screens of captivated audiences, witnessed a work of comedic genius whose messaging hit the mark.
