Basseterre, St. Kitts (MoPIEUDT NEWS) – The St. Kitts Water Services Department hosted two exhibition days on March 18 and 19, 2025, as part of their series of activities leading up to World Water Day. The exhibition provided a unique opportunity for students to learn about various water-related terms and systems.

A key highlight of the exhibition was the detailed explanation of the desalination process by Plant Supervisor Francis Zelaya. Using a clearly labeled model of the plant, Mr. Zelaya described the process of turning seawater into potable water, breaking down each phase of the filtration process. Zelaya emphasized the significance of each stage, ensuring attendees understood how each part of the apparatus contributes to delivering clean and safe water.
WSD staff also displayed various types of pumps used in the water distribution network.

Zelaya and his colleagues encouraged the attendees to share the valuable knowledge they gained, especially about water conservation efforts and the innovative desalination system, with relatives and friends.
The St. Kitts Water Services Department continues to promote water conservation and urges the public to preserve this precious resource.
