St. Kitts and Nevis’ Minister of Public Infrastructure, Energy, Utilities, Domestic Transport, Information, Communications, Technology, and Posts, the Honourable Konris Maynard, has travelled to Belize to attend the 50th Executive Council (EC50) meeting, the 21st Caribbean Ministerial Strategic ICT Seminar, and the Inaugural Caribbean ICT Ministers’ Retreat of the Caribbean Telecommunications Union (CTU) from 11th – 13th April 2024. The theme of these meetings is ‘Bridging Technologies for a Sustainable and Inclusive Future.’
On Thursday, April 11, 2024, Minister Maynard attended a closed EC50 meeting comprised of CTU executive Council Members, Permanent Secretaries, Technical Officers, and Advisors to ICT Ministers. The EC50 is one of the CTU’s statutory meetings to guide the Secretariat’s work.
Subsequently, he participated in the CTU’s 21st Caribbean Ministerial Strategic ICT Seminar, which provided Ministers and their teams with information on current and pertinent developments in 5G, Artificial Intelligence (AI), and Cybersecurity, among other things.
Minister Maynard also participated in a panel discussion during the seminar on ‘The Challenges and Opportunities For Green Energy Development in the Caribbean‘ along with The Minister of Public Utilities, Energy, Logistics and e-governance of Belize, The Hon Michele Chebat, and Mr. Nigel Davy, CEO of Innovative Energy Company Limited, Jamaica.
The Minister attended the Inaugural Caribbean ICT Ministers’ Retreat on Friday, April 12, and Saturday, April 13, 2024, before returning to St. Kitts and Nevis.
