Energy Unit Reveals Plans for Energy Month

Date:

Basseterre, St. Kitts – On Monday, September 2, 2024, Energy Officer Denasio Frank discussed the Energy Unit’s plans for the 9th regional observance of Energy Month in November 2024. Mr. Frank stated that plans for the local observance of Energy Month include a media tour, a fair, a church service and a health walk.

The Energy Unit actively engages youth each year in its Energy Month activities. This year, it plans to launch a mascot competition for youth. “They are going to be essentially drawing a character…for the Energy Unit to use in its media presence and promotions,” Mr. Frank stated.

This year’s observance of Energy Month also coincides with the Organization of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS) Ministerial Meeting of Energy Ministers in St. Kitts and Nevis. A critical part of that meeting is a roadshow featuring presentations on the importance of geothermal energy to St. Kitts and Nevis, Frank informed.

In 2016, the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) initiated the annual observance of Energy Month. Each year, it coordinates with member states to raise awareness of the importance of energy to the region.
